The Internship Process

Students signing up for internship will form groups of 4 students and work together on an assigned AI project. Students can take on multiple projects, but can sign up for only one project at a time.

Step 1: Sign Up and Select a Project

When a student signs up for internship, he/she will be assigned to a group with three other students. When the group is formed, we will assign an AI project to the group.

Step 2. Adopt a project plan

Once the team has formed, we will provide a project plan that includes the description of the AI/ML project based on the capabilities of the team members, steps to work the project, reading materials, milestones and deliverables and related materials. Students should have a suitable computer and access to the internet to complete the project.

Step 3. Work on the project

Students will follow the project plan timeline and work together on the project step by step. We will meet twice a week in person or online to track the progress and discuss any issues encountered. During each meeting, each student will provide a summary of their work accomplished and expected next steps and any bottlenecks encountered. They will also fill the details in an online status page everyday.

Step 4. Periodic presentations

Students will make a group presentation of their project once every two weeks and describe their progress. The meeting might include students from other intern groups.

Step 5. Final Exam/Group Presentation

Upon completion of the six week internship, the students will have one week to create the final group project report. Once the report is ready, the students will attend a final examination in the form of a team presentation as well as individual oral presentation in a question/answer session conducted through zoom/google meet.

Step 6. Certification and Follow-up

Upon successful completion of the project and all the deliverables, students will receive a certificate both in a physical format as well as an online digital format.

Dr. Mohan Venkataramana

President, Syntonix Inc. and President, Experteze

Dr. Mohan Venkataramana is a serial entrepreneur and President of Syntonix Inc. He is a graduate of IIT Madras (B.Tech in Chemical Engineering), the University of Illinois at Chicago (M.S. in Energy Engineering), and MIT (Ph.D, Chemical Engineering). He also worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Microsoft, Amazon, Caltech, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. At Experteze, he has conducted and organized several online classes, workshops and bootcamps.

Praveen Venkataramana

CEO, MITEG

Praveen Venkataramana received has Bachelor's (MIT) and Master's (Caltech) degrees in Mathematics. At MITEG, he is currently focusing on developing and commercializing AI/ML based applications in a variety of sectors including life sciences and healthcare.

Banu Gopalan

Banu Gopalan is a bioinformatics expert and has several years of professional and industrial experience in bioinformatics at Cleveland Clinic Genomic Medicine Institute, Monsanto, UC Davis, and PNNL.

Dr. Brijendra Gupta (Guest Professor)

Mentor, Experteze Research

Prof. Brijendra Gupta has over 15 years of industrial and academic experience. He is an associate professor, HOD of IT, and Dean of R&D at SCOE, Pune. He has a Masters and Ph.D degree from BHU IIT.

What kinds of subjects do you cover? What are the prerequisites?

Our focus subjects are listed in the website. Many (but not all) of the projects will include artificial intelligence and machine learning content, therefore prior knowledge of these subjects is required for successful completion of the project. The student should also be famililar with python, and have computer and internet access. If you feel you need to learn the prequisites or need a refresher, click here for our courses page
What is the duration of the internship? When do the programs start?

Each internship is for six weeks followed by two weeks of examination period. We will follow a flexible timeline. Students can join as individuals or as a group. If they join as individuals, they might have to wait till 3 other students have registered to start the group activity which might involve a delay in starting date. If they join as a group, we may start as soon as we can form the group of 4 -6 member teams. Note that the fees are based on per student and per week basis and the entire fees for all the scheduled weeks are payable in advance.
Do I need a college degree to join the program?

Not necessarily. Each student has different circumstances and all can benefit from the internship. Some students may be in high school, some may be in undergraduate programs and others may already have graduated. The rigor of the project will be matched to the student's skill set and knowledge. However all students should have background in AI/ML, and have access to computer and internet resources to successfully complete the program.
I am / My child is interested in special/advanced topics like programming or artificial intelligence. Can you help?

Sure. We periodically offer instructor-led courses (currently all such courses are online) in which students study in groups to gain experience in these topics. This is a great way for them to get exposure to the latest developments in emerging areas. Please get in touch with us and we will be happy to let you know the details, schedule and cost.
